Installation Process
Below is a simple guide to what you should expect to happen on the day of your installation.
Arrival
On the scheduled day of your installation, our engineer will arrive at your property equipped with all the necessary components for your alarm system. Upon arrival, the engineer will conduct a brief walkthrough of your home to assess the layout and confirm with you the ideal locations for each device, including the outdoor siren.
Installation

Once everything is agreed upon, the engineer will begin the installation process, ensuring that all devices are installed to the correct standard. Depending on the size of your property and the number of devices, the installation typically takes between 1 to 3 hours to complete. Any cabling for mounted devices will be neatly enclosed in trunking to ensure a clean, professional finish.
Commissioning

After the system is fully installed, the engineer will proceed to commission the system. This step involves activating all installed devices, including the outdoor siren, and verifying that the signals from your alarm system are successfully transmitted to the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC). The engineer will test the system to ensure that the ARC is receiving all signals properly.
Demonstration

Once the commissioning is complete and all signals are confirmed, the engineer will provide you with a detailed demonstration of the system’s features. This includes showing you how to change PIN codes, add or remove users, and how to arm and disarm the system using both the keypad and the mobile app.
Completion

Finally, the engineer will complete all necessary documentation and ask for your signature to confirm that the installation has been successfully completed to your satisfaction.
Preparing For Your New Security System
To make sure your installation of the I’m Covered 365 security package goes smoothly, we ask that you have a few things prepared so our engineers can get to work straight away.
WiFi
Have your broadband internet connection router Wi-Fi details, including the password you use to connect wirelessly, to hand.
App

Download the Control Plus 2 app to all iPhone or Android mobile devices you wish to control the security system from. Apps are FREE to download from the App Store or Play Store.
Electrics

You'll need to have an unstitched 3AMP fused spur installed in the location you require the main alarm panel. Don’t worry if you haven’t already had this done, your on-site engineer will be able to supply and install one on the day for a fee of just £78.00.

Clear Workspace

Ensure the workspace is clear to allow your engineer to access all necessary areas to complete your installation safely and effectively.
Keyholders

As the account holder, you are the primary keyholder, meaning you’ll be the first person we contact if your alarm is triggered. You will also need to nominate at least one secondary key holder, such as a neighbour or trusted friend, who will be contacted if you’re unavailable. Please create your list of key holders for contact when there is an activation on your alarm and have this to hand.
Health and Safety

To ensure both our customers and engineers are never placed in harm’s way, we kindly ask our customers to do the following:

-
To make sure the property is safe to enter.
-
To move large pieces of furniture prior to our engineer’s arrival - our engineers are not responsible for this.
-
If building work is taking place at your property, please let us know in advance in case we need to rearrange our visit.
-
Please keep all animals/pets away from our engineers.
-
To be aware that our bell boxes cannot be installed above a flat roof, on cladding, hanging tiles or at a height above 5 metres.
-
To advise our office if you are unwell at the time.
-
To ensure there is someone over the age of 18 at the property at all times when the engineer is on site.
-
To ensure the engineer is never to be left alone within the property.

Why an I'm Covered 365 intruder alarm? We install live external sirens, not dummy ones, for a real deterrent. Our experienced engineers handle every installation with care, and with the option for 24/7 remote monitoring and 24/7 engineer support, your security is in expert hands around the clock.
-
How do intruder alarms work?Intruder alarm systems use a range of different contacts and sensors to detect movement or the opening of doors and windows on a property. When triggered, this system activates an alarm and, with 24/7 remote monitoring, a signal is then sent to a 24/7 monitoring station which is then verified in a matter of seconds before all key-holders are alerted and/or the authorities.
-
How much do intruder alarms cost?Intruder alarm systems can range in cost depending on multiple factors such as the size of the property, the technology that will be used, the monitoring and maintenance requirements etc. Our intruder alarm systems can be fully scaleable and completely tailored to your unique needs and/or property, so costs are normally calculated on a case-by-case basis with the exception of some of our package deals that have a set price (terms and conditions apply).
-
What are the benefits of 24/7 remote monitoring?24/7 remote intruder alarm monitoring ensures your property is protected around the clock, wherever you are. If an alarm is triggered, a signal will be sent straight away to a 24/7 monitoring station where the alarm can then be verified within seconds before the key-holders and/or authorities are alerted.
-
How do pet-friendly motion sensors/PIRs work?Pet-friendly motion sensors, also known as passive infrared (PIR) sensors, are designed to ignore the movement of pets by detecting body heat only above a certain threshold. They are calibrated to disregard changes in infrared energy at floor level for animals weighing up to 35 kg. This allows them to differentiate between the movement of pets and humans, minimising false alarms triggered by your pets while still providing effective security.
