Intruder Alarm Maintenance

Planned preventative maintenance is essential for ensuring the continuous reliability and effectiveness of your intruder alarm system. Maintenance is needed to detect and address potential issues before they compromise your security. Our proactive approach involves thorough inspections, testing of sensors, control panels, and communication devices to ensure they operate flawlessly. This proactive maintenance not only minimises the risk of false alarms but also enhances the overall security of your premises. By adhering to a scheduled maintenance plan, we help maximise the lifespan of your intruder alarm system while ensuring that your property remains protected against unauthorised access.

What does a PPM visit include?
During an Intruder Alarm PPM visit, our engineer will carry out the following:
-
Check over the installation, location and siting of all equipment and devices against the ‘as fitted’ document to ensure there has been no changes to the layout of the building that the alarm system may need to be adapted to.
-
Check all detection devices connected to your system including the motion sensors, door contacts, panic buttons etc... for satisfactory operation, including deliberately operated devices and tamper detection.
-
Ensure all user codes are up to date and that only authorised users know the current pin code. If not, we can amend this during the visit.
-
Inspect all flexible connections to ensure the cables are in good condition and unexposed. We will also check for any disconnections within the system.
-
Check the mains and stand-by power supplies, including correct charging rates to ensure the intruder alarm system will still operate for the correct amount of time in the event of power loss. If for any reason the battery fails, we can usually offer a replacement during the visit.
-
Check the control unit for the correct operation. We will arm the alarm and set it off to mimic a break-in.
-
Check all audible warning and alarm devices for the correct operation to ensure they can be heard in the event of a break-in.
-
Test and check the entry and exit procedures. If the timing needs to be changed to give more or less time to enter or exit, this can be adjusted during the visit.
-
Check the remote monitoring signalling communication between the system and the ARC to ensure the correct signals are being received (if the system is monitored).
-
Clean your detection devices to ensure no blockages that could reduce functionality.
-
Clean the external siren (where possible). A neglected bell-box can give the wrong impression. We ensure it’s clean and presentable to reflect the integrity of your overall security system.
