Martyn's Law
The recent Royal Assent of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, commonly known as Martyn’s Law, represents a significant step forward in enhancing public security across the UK. Named in memory of Martyn Hett, who tragically lost his life in the 2017 Manchester Arena attack, this legislation aims to improve preparedness and protection against terrorism for certain premises and events. The Act imposes specific obligations on those responsible for such venues, ensuring they take necessary steps to reduce vulnerability to terrorist threats and protect the public. For businesses and organisations, compliance with Martyn’s Law is not just a legal responsibility; it is also a moral duty to safeguard the public.
Who Must Comply?
Martyn’s Law covers publicly accessible premises across all sectors with a capacity of 200 people or more. This includes, but is not limited to:

- Event venues and nightclubs
- Sports stadia and arenas

Compliance Tiers
Martyn’s Law will be divided into two compliance tiers, determined by the capacity of a premises. All publicly accessible venues with a capacity of 200 or more people will be placed in the standard tier, which will also apply to all education settings regardless of size. Premises with a capacity of 800 or more will fall into the enhanced tier.
Standard Tier Requirements (200-799 capacity)

- All Standard Tier requirements
- Implement advanced security measures, such as CCTV and controlled access

The Netgenium system is fully PoE (Power over Ethernet), allowing both power and data to be delivered through a single cable for a streamlined and reliable installation. Lockdowns can be initiated instantly using a range of inputs, including physical buttons, PoE touch screens, networked devices, IP phones, or fob/card readers. Alerts are then distributed across multiple channels simultaneously, reaching PoE speakers (indoor and outdoor), PoE LED screens with visual instructions, classroom displays, flashing beacons, mobile dashboards for administrators, as well as IP phones and intercom systems. This multi-layered approach ensures rapid, clear communication in any scenario.
